Running the risk of dehydration is no longer uncommon for many people. Sometimes, it’s hard to stay on track with your hydration goal when you’re occupied with work or even the simplest of household chores.

Staying hydrated not only keeps your body functioning at peak performance, a hydrated body is more prepared to fight off illness, and you will be less likely to suffer from some easily preventable problems like dehydration related headaches.

If you’re looking for some new ways to keep your body hydrated, here are five great ways that go beyond just drinking water.

Drink lots of water to refill your system

There’s no way around it: if you want a fast way to rehydrate your system, then you will have to drink a few glasses of H2O right away. Doing this will help regulate your internal body temperature and provide the necessary nutrients and minerals to your organs.

If you want to spice things up, you can also add a few glasses of sparkling water to your drinking goal. But when it comes to your main choice, it should always be your drinking water.

Eat hydrating and water-rich foods

Tired of chugging down water? Consider eating it instead! Simply eat water-rich fruits such as watermelon, berries, apple, oranges or grapes. You can also incorporate vegetables like lettuce and carrots in your meal plan for that extra dose of H2O. Make sure to eat at least 1 ¼ cup or two servings a day to replace a few glasses of your required daily water intake.

Drink your favorite fresh milk

Aside from making your bones strong, milk can also give you protein and electrolytes — two nutrients that can help speeden up your rehydration process. But just like anything else, this should be taken in moderation and should not replace water as your main source for your required daily hydration.
